First Official Gameplay Trailer For 'Red Dead Redemption 2' Has Dropped

The first official gameplay trailer for Rockstar's highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption II has just been released and now we can't wait for the game.

It wasn't the first video we've seen for the forthcoming prequel and it probably won't be the last, but previous cinematics have been about building hype and painting pictures, whereas this clip was specifically made to show off gameplay. And boy, did it.

We were treated to the most in-depth look (so far) on how the full game should shape up on release, although Rockstar no doubt kept a few things as a surprise. Cowboys, weapons, in-game mechanics, location; you know what, just watch the trailer for yourself. Enjoy.

Rockstar announced only yesterday that we'd be shown a brand-new trailer, and it certainly didn't disappoint. We wouldn't mind another, though.

So far, we know that that Arthur Morgan is Red Dead 2's protagonist. He's part of a crime gang, named Van der Linde, and is lead enforcer as well as Dutch's right hand man.

We'll also see a familiar face in the vast open world, in the form of a young John Marston, who is the fan favourite star from the previous game, if you somehow didn't know.

As usual with Rockstar games, player choice will play a massive part in determining the outcome of your story, which is set to take place in 1899. America is seeing the last of its wild western days, and local enforcements are making every effort to push the remaining gangs to extinction.

Rockstar said [via GameSpot]: "After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee.

"With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive.

"As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him ... Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America at the dawn of the modern age."

Red Dead Redemption II will release on 26 October, 2018, for Xbox One and PS4. You better go brush off your cowboy hat because it come will round quicker than you can say wild west.
