New 'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate' Characters Revealed, Confirming Nintendo Leak

Nintendo Direct's live stream has announced new characters for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate title, confirming today's accidental leak.

During the YouTube video, fans were shown new fighter and Castlevania protagonist Simon Belmont. The retro hero will come partnered with his iconic whip, although his look has been slightly altered, and his echo fighter will be Richter Belmont from the same series.

Dracula's castle is the new stage for you to fight in, and is one of 103 included in the game. It boasts a number of Gothic enemies to battle, including Dracula himself every 'blue moon', as well as Alucard as an assist trophy. 34 Castlevania tracks are included out of a massive 800, which can be listened to on the go.

Donkey Kong's King K. Rool will also be added as a playable fighter, with Monster Hunter's Rathalos becoming an assist trophy. Fire Emblem's Chrom will be an echo of Lucina, whilst Dark Samus will echo Samus.

On the Super Smash Bros. YouTube channel earlier today, a video titled 'Galaga Melody' was randomly changed to 'Bloody Tears / Monster Dance', as spotted by sharp-eyed Reddit user Hinata2000100.

Nintendo obviously realised their mistake and the audio clip title was changed back to its original name - but thanks to Nintendo Direct we now know all suspicions were actually true.

Fans of the classic game recognised 'Bloody Tears' and 'Monster Dance' as sound tracks from the NES title Castlevania II: Simon's Quest, which suggested protagonist Simon Belmont will become the new fighter.

He's been widely requested from Smash players for quite a while, but Nintendo waited for their Super Smash Bros. Ultimate live stream to reveal him.

Konami stars have appeared as playable character in the cross-over fighting series before, most notably Snake from the Metal Gear Solid franchise, and Mr Belmont will be welcome with open arms.

What do you think? Have you been eagerly awaiting this character? Or are there others you wish would be introduced? Let us know.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will release 7 December for Nintendo Switch.
