'Overwatch' Year Of The Pig Lunar Celebrations Begin Next Week

'Overwatch' Year Of The Pig Lunar Celebrations Begin Next Week

Blizzard will kick off Lunar New Year celebrations in Overwatch next week, with the arrival of Year of the Pig on Thursday, 24 January.

Players can expect to find a number of oink-themed cosmetics, decorations, and game modes roll in across the next three weeks, until the event ends on Thursday, 14 February.

And whilst your waiting for these currently unknown in-game additions, Blizzard will unveil a new skin each day leading up to Year of the Pig, starting tomorrow (19 January). Keep an eye on the game's social channels to see them.

Last year's event, Year of the Dog, welcomed 50 new items, including six Legendary skins. It was Hanzo, Genji, Mercy, Pharah, McCree, and Widowmaker who received a top-notch makeover.

But you can only imagine that Year of the Pig will trough up the rarest skins for Roadhog. You know, because he's a damn big pig. You may see the return of items from last year, too. As well as game modes.

Year of the Dog boasted a special capture the flag mode and new map Ayutthaya, that was made specifically for capture the flag (and set in Thailand).

Blizzard is yet to reveal everything new coming to 2019's Lunar event, but as celebrations draw closer, and new skins appear on Twitter and Facebook, more details will likely be shared. So stay tuned for updates.

What do you think about this news? Will you get involved will this year's event? What are you hoping to see? Which was the best item last year? Let us know.
