Someone Has Photoshopped Mario’s Moustache Out And OMG My Eyes

Someone Has Photoshopped Mario’s Moustache Out And OMG My Eyes

Some people are calling this a 'cursed image' and it's not hard to see why

Mario has been around for close to four decades and we're all used to the way that he looks.

While his looks have certainly evolved since his first appearance in 1981 in Donkey Kong, it's still pretty much the same thing.

So, you can imagine how jarring it can be when even the smallest aspect of the video game character is changed.

Well, prepare yourself for a moustache-less Mario.

How the hell does a little patch of facial hair radically change the way a not even real person looks?

In addition to the moustache, it seems as though Mario's eyebrows have also got the chop - maybe in some prank by Luigi.

A bloke by the name of Brian Peppers uploaded the picture to Twitter and it's understandably gone viral, with more than 28,000 likes, 7,400 retweets and hundreds of confused and weirded out comments.

One person adequately quoted Jeff Goldblum's character in Jurassic Park when he said: "Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could that they didn't stop to think if they should."

Yes - no one needed to see Mario without his beloved moustache.

Many, many people questioned why this needed to be revealed to the world and unfortunately, there is no answer. Some people just want to watch the world burn.

But before you try to dust yourself off from that earth-shattering reveal, we might have more information on Mario that could shock you to your core: he's not actually a plumber.

Last year, Nintendo updated its character profile for the blue overall wearing hero, with the translation roughly saying: "With sports utility, I will do everything cool, tennis, baseball, soccer and car racing.

"Actually, there seems to have been work as a 'plumber' a long time ago...I love Princess Peach, and if Princess Peach is in trouble, I will go help at any time."

His name wasn't even originally Mario.

Yep - when he debuted in 1981 (let that sink in for a second), he was called 'Jumpman' and was shown to be a carpenter who had a pet ape called Donkey Kong. A carpenter?!

The arcade game Mario Bros. was released in 1983 and saw Mario and his brother Luigi fight creatures who are coming through the sewers to terrorize New York City.

That was the only time that the dynamic duo could ever really be considered plumbers. Their next appearances in the Super Mario Bros. series saw them rescue Princess Peach and battle Bowser and King Koopa before going on to star in a range of various sports related games.
