‘Spyro Reignited Trilogy’ Is Finally Coming To PC And Nintendo Switch
Having released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2018, Activision's Spyro Reignited Trilogy compilation - collecting together the original PlayStation titles Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage and Spyro: Year of the Dragon, each remastered to appear this-gen - is about to come out for PC and Nintendo Switch.
PC and Switch gamers will be able to pick up - or download - the set on September 3. It's already up for pre-order on Steam, if you're into that sort of thing. Its release on Switch, confirmed during the company's E3 2019 Direct (which also gave us a first look at the sequel to Zelda: Breath of the Wild), marks the first time that all three Spyro games will be available for a Nintendo console, and the PC version marks the dragon's debut on that platform.
PC players will benefit from their version of Reignited having an upcapped framerate, and the game also supports 4K visuals. There's also, to quote from the marketing material, "enhanced environments, a remastered soundtrack, updated controls, brand-new lighting and recreated cinematics".
PC Gamer quotes Activision vice president Michelle Fonseca: "Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a love letter to the fans. Our goal is to transport players back to their precious memories from the 1990s, while also inviting new fans to dive into Spyro's world on whatever platform they desire."
Y'know, I never actually played Spyro back in the day - by the time it was out, I was in the pub, and I didn't come out and engage properly with video games again until the 360 was available - so its Switch launch has definitely tickled my interest.
