Square Enix Announces Name Of New Avengers Game

Japanese video game giant Square Enix has unveiled the official name of the new Avengers video game, which had previously been referred to mysteriously as The Avengers Project.

The game had been rumoured for a while, but now we have something a little more concrete to pin our hopes onto - as Square Enix announced the superhero game will be called... drum roll, please... Marvel's Avengers.

Not overwhelmingly surprising, but it gets us straight to the point I suppose.

The big reveal came today via Twitter, though so far all we have is a glimpse of its logo and title, as the full news will be taking place during Square Enix's E3 showcase in June.

According to ComicBook.com, Square Enix is publishing Marvel's Avengers, while Crystal Dynamics - also known for creating Square Enix's Tomb Raider series - will serve as the game's developer.

"The Avengers project is being designed for gamers worldwide and will be packed with all the characters, environments, and iconic moments that have thrilled longtime fans of the franchise," said the Crystal Dynamics website.

"Featuring a completely original story, it will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come."

Meanwhile, a post on the Square Enix site urged game lovers to join them on Monday 10 June at 6pm for the Square Enix Live E3 2019, which will showcase 'an exciting line up of titles'.

Fans are already excited for the game, and may are already speculating what to expect.

One wrote: "FINALLY. I've been waiting so long for this!!!"

Another said: "Here's hoping it's on the same par as Spidey."

A third commented: "The rumors are true and the wait is finally over. About goddamn time, I'm so excited for this. You wouldn't really call this a most anticipated game because it's been like 3 years and still nothing but at the same time it is."

A fourth added: "The fact its called 'Marvel's Avengers' and Insomniacs game is called 'Marvel's Spider-Man' gives me hope that they are in the same universe - it's a stretch I know but I can hope!"
