It's almost that time of year again when you need to hide your money any way you can. Under the sink, buried in the garden, in the lining of your sofa maybe, because Gabe Newell is coming to town with his big fiscal vacuum he calls the Steam Summer Sale. Yup, the dates of the sale of have leaked, so you have until June 25 to build a hurricane shelter for your money purse.
The leak came from Steam China who delightfully also have Steam Sale memes despite the store only launching in the country officially in the last year:
In China the Summer Sale will be kicking off around 1am June 26, Beijing time, which is 5pm on June 25 here in the UK. As confirmed by Stem Database, who have multiple sources for the leak:
Personally, I'd like to pick up Mordhau, Risk of Rain 2, and Titan Quest Anniversary Edition if they were discounted. I've been playing quite a few of the bigger releases lately but smaller games have been slipping under my radar. I loved the first Risk of Rain and would like to dive into the sequel because it looks like a lot of the game has changed with the transition to 3D. And Mordhau, because, c'mon who doesn't want to charge into a battlefield playing a lute? Buying (or, in this case rebuying) Titan Quest never needs to be justified.
Steam Sales have lost something of the attraction of the earlier years, back when there were flash sales and daily discounts. I remember logging in every few hours to see what was on deep discount. Though, the new style where all the discounts remain the same throughout the sale is fairer and doesn't push you to impulse buy. What would you like to see discounted in the Steam Summer Sale? Let us know on Facebook and Twitter.
