The Ghostbusters Are Coming To ‘Planet Coaster’, Along With Dan Ackroyd

If you're a fan of theme parks and of Ghostbusters then your stars have aligned: Frontier Developments, maker of Planet Coaster, has announced that it's theme park management game is getting a visit from the exorcists. An upcoming DLC for Planet Coaster will add new rides, characters, and scenery from the films.

According to the announcement post, the DLC isn't just new cosmetics for the park but it will feature a story scenario voiced by the film's creator Dan Ackroyd, who will be reprising his role as Raymond Stantz. And, William Atherton returns as Walter Peck.

"A host of other fan-favourite ghosts and characters will also make appearances as the story progresses, including Slimer, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and even the legendary ECTO-1 car," Frontier writes. "A new interactive dark ride, The Ghostbusters Experience, will allow players to engage in a whole new way as they take on the role of a Ghostbuster to bust ghosts with their particle throwers and log their high score."

Frontier is no stranger to movie tie-ins, Planet Coaster has already had a Back to the Future-themed DLC, and the studio made the excellent Jurassic World Evolution. While Ghostbusters games in the past have taken on a more action bent, making a theme park full of recognisable props from the films is mighty enticing. And it does make me wonder what other films in future might be making their way to Planet Coaster. The dream would be Star Wars - having an Death Star trench ride, for instance. Or a Tatooine Cantina to sell drinks and food to the guests?

There's no word of a release date, but the original Ghostbusters's 35th anniversary coming up on June 7, I would be surprised if we didn't hear more news on the DLC around then.
