The ‘No Man’s Sky’ Beyond Update Makes Hundreds Of Changes And Adds Mounts

The ‘No Man’s Sky’ Beyond Update Makes Hundreds Of Changes And Adds Mounts

No Man's Sky has changed drastically since it launched back in 2016. Free patches and updates have added new features consistently over the years, but none more so than the upcoming Beyond update. It brings a huge online component, letting you play with friends and strangers like you couldn't before; virtual reality support has been added to the entire game; and, there are literally hundreds of updates and changes made to the entire game.

You can see hints of what's coming in the latest trailer:

No Man's Sky Beyond will launch on August 14 and it brings with it "the Nexus". In a developer update Sean Murray describes it as "a shared social space that brings people together and lets them play with friends or join with random strangers like never before.

Suddenly your ship that you spent 50 hours earning can now be seen by others in the Nexus. Your rare spacesuit and unique helmet can be shown off to other players. Friends and strangers can visit that massive base you've been working on."

It sounds like you will be able to party up with anyone you meet to explore the galaxy together. Visit each other's space colonies, fly through the galaxy, or take on missions as a group.

The virtual reality support will be very exciting news for people with headsets. One of the problems with the fancy hardware is finding substantial games to play. A lot of the games available for VR are still short experiences, ones that show off the tech but you can't really get lost in. No Man's Sky is a vast game with huge amounts to discover. It's the sort of thing VR was made for.

Murray explains there will be a more detailed look at what exactly is in Beyond very soon. But judging by the trailer you can now mount the procedurally generated creatures you discover when exploring the galaxy. I truly hope you can take a creature from one planet to another, keeping your trusty steed by your side like some kind of roving space cowboy.

What more could you want from a space game?
