The Uncharted Movie Starring Tom Holland Will Release In December 2020
After years of stumbling around in the dark (undoubtedly making witty quips the whole time) the Uncharted movie finally looks to be escaping the crypts. Sony has announced that it will release on December 18, 2020.
The movie, starring Spider-Man actor Tom Holland, has very little else announced about it. We don't know which game, if any, the story will be based on. Nor do we know what kind of Nathan Drake Holland will be playing. The games have shown him as a child, not yet an adventurer, and then him at various points through his career.
Holland looking as young as he does, is unlikely to be starring in a film where he's cast as a late-stage, married Drake, but hopefully we won't be watching an origin story - if the first game didn't need to then I don't see why a film should begin at the beginning.
The Uncharted movie will be directed by Dan Trachtenberg, the director of 10 Cloverfield Lane. That's a really promising bit of news, because while I like the original Cloverfield, the spin off was on a different level.
Besides that we know little about who will be in the film or even when it's going to shoot. So Trachtenberg's going to be racing against the clock to have this thing ready for the end of next year. Presumably the script is complete at this stage and casting is underway if not nearly complete, and we simply haven't heard who else is attached to the project.
