Fancy flying to Westeros? Your first obstacle is no doubt going to be the fact that it's a fantasy land, made up by an old, old, beardy nerd. However, even if it wasn't, you'd still need a dragon to get there, right?

Well, not anymore, because now you can simply hop on a plane and go directly there. You can even fly EasyJet if you're trying to save those silver stags. Think we're shitting you? Think again, because Belfast International Airport has been re-named 'Westeros Airport' - albeit just for the festive period.

The name change was made to celebrate the release of season 7 of Game of Thrones on DVD and Blu-Ray, and Belfast was chosen due to of the fact that Northern Ireland is one of the show's premier filming locations.

Passengers flying into the capital will be greeted by an enormous sign, reading 'Welcome To Westeros', but will be happy to notice a distinct lack of blood-thirsty Thenns, White Walkers or blue fire-breathing, undead dragons. Always a bonus.

Since its very first series, HBO's hit sex and dragons flick, GoT, has been based out of Belfast. Some of the major local filming locations include Causeway Coast and Glens, north of the capital city, as well as south into Quoile and the Mourne Mountains in County Down.

Graham Keddie, managing director of Belfast International Airport, said: "We are delighted to partner with HBO UK and NI Screen to showcase Northern Ireland as the home of Game of Thrones.

"As the principal airport for Northern Ireland, we look forward to welcoming the hundreds-of-thousands of passengers, as well as meeters and greeters that will be travelling through the terminal over the festive period and will be able to visit Westeros, right here, at Belfast International Airport."

Moyra Lock, Head of Marketing at Northern Ireland Screen, added: "The show has spearheaded a growing screen tourism phenomenon and we're delighted to welcome all fans and travellers officially to Westeros this December.

"The series has catapulted Northern Ireland into the premier league of global production locations and a huge legacy for the screen industry will be the local and highly skilled crew-base with vast experience on a show of size and scale that has the highest production values on television today."

If you're going to struggle to get over to Belfast before the end of the festive period, fear not, because now you can head back to Westeros from the comfort of your sofa with Game of Thrones season 7, out on DVD and Blu-Ray now.
