Living in Australia means you have to go about your day knowing full well that you might come across some of its lovely and deadly critters at any given moment. However, that usually only applies when you're in the outdoors and probably not in your shower.

Petrina Murphy's teenage son came running to tell his mum that he could see some snakes lodged in the skylight in the bathroom. The Queenslander calmly grabbed a broom and prodded the window, hoping they'd fall out and slither away. However, they fell to the floor and started to fight.

While they weren't butting heads, you can see their tails are wrapped around each other before going for the occasional hiss.

Petrina says: "They had really wrapped themselves around each other and their tails were all knotted up. Some people who've seen the video have asked if they're mating but they're definitely two males fighting.

"Even though they were fighting, I knew they weren't going to attack me. They were more focused on each other and pythons are actually usually pretty docile unless you annoy them.

"After they fell through, I closed all the doors so they were just sliding around in the bathroom and then I used the broom to sweep them outside."

Hard-as-nails Petrina says she's not all that fussed about snakes because they're such a regular occurrence in her neck of the woods.

But as some people's idea of hell was unfolding, the 41-year-old's biggest relief was that the bathroom was clean because 'I was able to get some photos and video without it being embarrassing'.

She had been expecting this day to come for a few months as she could hear several snakes rolling around in the roof and 'thumping' over the rafters during winter (um, if that isn't cause to run for the hills instantly, I don't know what is).

She adds: "The most annoying thing about having them up there was when they peed. Something would drip through the ceiling and you'd think it was water. We haven't had any rain here for about three months so the snakes come looking for where we keep our water. They just want a drink."

While no one condones animal cruelty, it still would be terrifying for some people to hear for months a collection of large snakes chilling in the roof before starting a Battle Royale in the bathroom.
