A man has used his time in lockdown to create an incredible Ninja-Warrior-style assault course for his pet hedgehog.

Mike Cannizzaro, 37, was forced to close his family entertainment business in Jersey Shore due to the coronavirus pandemic.

His business Knockerball & More offered a full range of fun activities to families, such as Human Foosball and Bubble Soccer and had a cute little mascot in the form of pygmy hedgehog Pepper.

Mike decided to use his extra time to make a little obstacle course to keep the energetic hedgehog happy.

Mike told the Mirror: "I live in a condo where they don't allow traditional pets like cats and dogs, but I'm a huge animal lover.

"I looked online and I came across a post for a hedgehog needing a new home because the owner was in college and didn't feel like she gave it enough attention.

"I owned one when I was a little lad and I thought it would also make a great mascot for my business since the kids would love to see her, and they rolled into little balls like a 'mini Knockerball'. I got in touch with the girl and the rest is history."

Lockdown has pretty boring for most of us and it was no different for Mike and Pepper, so he decided to creative.

Mike added: "While I was home self-isolating and bored with nothing to do, I noticed Pepper was getting a little lazy because she was not socialising with the kids and getting out of her cage like she usually did.

"Every time I let her roam on the sofa she would always try to get down to the ground where she loves to run freely. I thought about it a little and gathered some items around the house and set them up on the sofas in my living room."

Mike made the assault course using a bunch of household items such as empty Pringles cans and pool noodles.

Clips of the little hedgehog enjoying the new assault have gone viral, with animal-lovers delighted with the cute videos.

Mike added: "I love keeping Pepper active, both physically and mentally, and her Vet says it's great for her. We've also had lots of people ask us to get Pepper a friend to do the courses with so you may be seeing a new friend with Pepper very soon."
