Terrifying Moment Man Realises 'Bug' Daughter Playing With Is Massive Tarantula

The 18-month-old wasn't phased by the creature, but her dad definitely was.

A man in the US was given a fright when he discovered his daughter casually playing with a huge tarantula. Watch here:

David Lehman, from Tucson, Arizona, was spending a summer afternoon relaxing poolside with his family when his daughter's discovery of a 'bug' livened things up dramatically.

David's youngest daughter Blake, 18-months-old, was sitting on the patio innocently playing with an upturned coffee can, and when he asked what she was up to, she replied: "Bug!"

But on closer inspection, the 36-year-old dad realised Blake's playmate wasn't a bug at all - it was a massive tarantula.

Understandably petrified, David let out a scream before basically shoving Blake to the ground.

He then scooped her up and fled the scene, as their dog followed - presumably wondering what all the commotion was about.

Thankfully for the rest of us, their backyard security camera captured all of the action for our viewing pleasure.

Blake was quite happy playing with the spider.

Reflecting on the arachnid encounter, David - who manages an automotive dealer - said he was trying to knock the can out of Blake's hand, but underestimated the power of her grip.

He said: "I was expecting a beetle, as it's that season right now, so when I saw the tarantula I just thought, 'Get that gnarly thing away from my daughter!'

"I tried to hit the can out of her hand but I didn't take into consideration her toddler death grip - when I hit the can away, she went with it.

"She landed on a padded grass area, the tarantula landed on her shoulder so I just grabbed her up into my arms."

Blake was able to get reacquainted with the spider once her old man had calmed down a bit, and she has retained her interest in exploring the outdoors.

David said: "Once we calmed down, we eventually caught the spider and checked it out then set it free in the front yard. Blake isn't phased and still loves exploring outside."

By the looks of it then, Blake won't grow up to be like Hollie Hunter, who screamed so loud at a spider that police were called to her house.

Cops helped to track down the spider.

Hollie, from Livingston, Scotland, was so startled by the creepy-crawly on her bed last month that her neighbour presumably thought she'd stumbled upon an armed intruder, or fallen down the stairs or something.

As a good citizen concerned for the welfare of Hollie, the neighbour called the cops, who turned up in two vans.

Fortunately for Hollie, the officers were able to see the funny side of things - and even got rid of the petrifying eight-legged intruder.
