Massive Dog Has To Be Rescued From Top Of Mountain After Getting Too Tired To Walk Down

Floyd, the 86kg Mastiff, spent all his energy getting up and just couldn't be bothered to get down.

Hiking can be a pretty hard task, especially if you're not prepared for all the ups and downs.

You really shouldn't take on a gruelling hike if you don't think you'll be able to finish it because, at the end of the day, your mates certainly won't want to carry you down.

But one dog has proved that you can get a little bit of assistance if you get into trouble.

Floyd and his owner were hiking up the Grandeur Peak trail near Salt Lake City on the weekend. Sadly, when they reached the summit, the 86 kilogram dog was too tired to come down.

The dog's owner called on the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Search and Rescue team to help and they leapt at the chance to rescue such an adorable dog.

The team wrote on Facebook: "Several hikers had called Unified Police to report that the dog and his owner were on the trail and not able to move.

"Salt Lake County Search and Rescue members went into action and headed up the trail to make sure Floyd could get off the mountain with his human before it got too cold.

"Floyd was packaged in a litter and carried down the mountain. Floyd was a good boy and was happy to be assisted."

The video of Floyd being carried by a stretcher is too much for us. He looks like he is loving the royal treatment and probably won't want to travel any other way from now on.

Hopefully the Mastiff got some treats when he reached the bottom.

A woman claiming to be the sister of the man with Floyd claims he was fully prepared to sleep with the dog overnight, which is a pretty big feat considering it gets very cold around this time of year.
