When you think of Australia, you see kangaroos hopping around, kookaburras cackling, koalas doing nothing in trees and magpies swooping you like no tomorrow.

So it's no surprise that people are pissed off when you take one of those things and put it somewhere it shouldn't.

Take this kangaroo, for example, that's been installed in an American petting zoo.

People have been outraged after seeing a video of it confined in a small cage, not exactly bounding through the Aussie wilderness. More than 3,700 people have signed a petition to try and bring the marsupial home.

Danielle Lee started the petition and said: "I came across a video of an Australian Kangaroo touring with Commerford Petting Zoo, Conneticut, USA.

"The roo is in a small confined space and really should be with other kangaroos in its natural environment. I doubt it would be able to survive in the bush/wild now, so hopefully we can get it to a wildlife park or sanctuary in Australia.

"Let's bring our roo home.

"I started this in the hopes to get the roo out of this environment, hopefully back to Australia (a long shot - I know). In the least, hopefully a sanctuary in America where there are other roos."

People who have seen the video of the roo in the cage have been understandably horrified.

"Australia is OUTRAGED at the cruel inhumane treatment of this poor caged boy, our national icon - a victim of pure greed!" wrote one person.

Another added: "Omg this is horrifying. Poor thing can't even walk properly the enclosure is so small."

Getting the animal home might be a long shot but with enough pressure we could possibly help it.
