Shelter Puts Cat In Solitary Confinement Because It Keeps Letting Other Cats Out

Staff at the shelter are sick of coming in and seeing cats roaming around the place.

Cats are known to be pretty craft animals. Compared to dogs, felines appear calculated to the point that it can be quite scary.

But one animal shelter has been shocked and annoyed over one cat's constant attempts to get out.

Quilty is described online as 'shy' but it has a knack for letting other cats out of their enclosures at the Friends for Life Animal Rescue Organisation in Houston, Texas.

As a result, staff have decided to lock Quilty inside what they describe as 'solitary confinement' until the cat can learn some manners.

"Quilty's review with the parole board was denied, so he released himself of his own recognisance," the shelter posted on its Facebook page.

"He felt that confinement had nothing more to offer him. He has been returned to solitary. Quilty will not be contained. And he has no shame.

"His roommates missed him while he was banished to the lobby. They enjoyed their nighttime escapades around the shelter.

"If someone out there is looking for a clever cat that gets along with dogs but does not get along with closed doors, we have someone they really need to come and meet."

According to the shelter, the six-year-old domestic shorthair was guilty of doing the same act with a dog at his old home. He would often let his canine mate indoors, much to the dismay of his owners.

Friends for Life Animal Rescue Organisation has updated Guilty's biography on its website and we couldn't be more in love with the cat if we tried.

It reads: "What is the coolest cat name you've ever heard? I think my name, Quilty is the winner! I love my name almost as much as I love a CLEAN litter box and sunning on the balcony. As much as I like getting pets, I really don't like to get belly rubs.

"I'm a smart, energetic, laid back fella, but I can be a bit shy. If you have a friendly dog at home that is OK with me, but I'm not sure about young children.

"I've never played with them before, so I don't know if I like them. I do know that I like to open closed doors. When I see one it challenges me, and I work hard to get it open and I'm usually successful."

So if you're looking for a cat that will make you laugh then Quilty sounds like a perfect fit.
