Woman Buys Pet Dog Roast Dinner In Pub - Internet Is Divided

You'd think the sight of a dog tucking into a roast dinner in a pub would be greeted with universal approval by the entire human race. But alas, even with something so beautiful and pure, there's always someone who finds something to moan about.

Leanne Rimmer, from Liverpool, UK, shared pictures on Facebook of her springer spaniel, Bella, enjoying a roast dinner in a pub as a 'treat' after a four-mile run.

She captioned the post: "Little treat after our four-mile run today, we were stuck in traffic for over an hour so pulled into a pub to feed us both.

"Breakfast for me and roast for Bella - asked for extra meat of course!"

Many people were big fans of the picture, with one person writing: "Our dogs always had what we were having whether it was a Sunday roast, bolognese with mushrooms, onion and garlic or even a curry.

"Never did them any harm and they all lived happy, long lives."

However, not everyone was on board with the doggy pub roast, with the gravy (which is of course essential to any roast) seemingly causing the concern.

One person said: "It's the salt that's an issue. Too much salt can interfere with your kidneys.

"Potassium levels can shoot up, and can cause kidney failure. Can happen with humans if we don't drink enough; it becomes concentrated.

"With animals, they should get enough salt out of their natural diet. Giving gravy, etc., with salt added can cause issues."

Another wrote: "Maybe next time no gravy as [there's] way too much salt in it and you don't know how much salt is in the Yorkshire pud or the veg!"

Meanwhile, the very fact the pub agreed to serve the pooch with a plate was unacceptable to this person, who commented: "I'll probably get shouted down for this, but sorry, I think it's wrong to allow your dog to eat off pub plates!

"Yes, our dog eats off plates in our house on occasions and yes, we take him to a local pub on lovely summer evenings and buy him a meal BUT we put it in his own collapsible dish that we take with us."

But it turns out Bella actually has a roast every Sunday, though normally Miss Rimmer cooks them herself. On this occasion, she had turkey and beef and finished off everything but the Yorkshire pudding.

Speaking to LADbible about the salty complaints, Miss Rimmer - who owns dove release company White Doves of Love - said: "I got questioned on that and took some stick but if you look there's not a lot, plus most dog foods have more salt in than anything. She has the healthiest diet ever - a little roast now and again won't kill her.

"That day I was stuck in traffic and we were both hungry and the only option for her was a carvery."
