Sometimes when you're travelling, the most important thing is not the destination but what you find on the way. For Jordan Kahana, a freelance digital director from California, that was definitely the case when he went on a road trip over his Christmas break in 2016.

The 30-year-old decided to drive from his home in Los Angeles to Colorado over the holidays and, as he was driving through the desert, came across two forlorn looking hitchhikers that he just had to pick up.

They were two border collies, looking frail and a little bit thirsty, abandoned by the side of the freeway. Jordan found them between the towns of Sedona and Page in Arizona, a noted dumping ground for unwanted pups - and he could not simply drive on by.

He picked them up, named them Zeus and Sedona and has been taking them with him on his adventures ever since. In fact, they've named themselves the Adventure Squad and have taken the internet by storm in the intervening two years.

Together, the trio have visited 35 US states and travelled over 35,000 miles, with Jordan filming the whole thing as they go. To date, they have amassed almost 65,000 Instagram followers and 37,000 Youtube subscribers to their channel.

"I just knew I had to bring them with me," said Jordan. "If I couldn't keep them when I got back to LA where I lived at the time, I was going to find a good home for them. Everyone wanted to hear the story and fell in love with the dogs, how could they not. They were at their cutest stage."

The dogs live in the back of his van and journey around the United States with Jordan. "I'm used to travelling by myself, but it has been great to have some companionship. We've basically travelled cross-country in month-long stints," said the proud dogfather.

"I just put the back seat down in the jeep and I've got them a mattress so they're comfortable. They're a lot better now but I can tell you, that first trip, my car smelled like pee the whole time."

It's a small price to way for having two of the cutest travelling companions that anyone could hope for - and if you're feeling a little bit of wanderlust yourself, then you can follow them around via their social media channels.
