Dad Spent 42 Days In A Coma, Asked For A Taco Bell As Soon As He Woke Up

What a guy.

A man surprised his family when he woke up after 42 days in a coma and his first words were: "I want Taco Bell."

Jake Booth had bronchitis and pneumonia before being put into a medically-induced coma back in February. Apparently, this was down to the fact that he didn't finish his course of antibiotics.

His health quickly deteriorated and he was put on life support as he was unable to process oxygen with his lungs.

According to his brother, Jason Schwartz, his other organs, including his heart, liver and kidneys, failed.

After six weeks of being in a coma, Jake awoke. He instantly recognised his six-year-old daughter, Eva, and 10-month-old son, Aiden. However, he was very interested in getting a Mexican takeaway. Which is fair enough to be honest.

Since he was put into the coma, his brother has been working tirelessly to ensure that as many funds were raised as possible to keep the family afloat whilst Jake was in hospital.

He set up a website, WakeTheJake, and wrote: "My name is Jason and I'm Jake's older brother. Our very special father, husband, brother, son, vet and friend Jake Booth needs your help.

"Even though Jake is AWAKE he's got a long way to go before he's out of danger. He needs a lot of physical therapy for everything from his speech, writing his name and even just walking to working on his memory loss and dialysis 3 times a week.

"So please don't think that just because things have moved from negative to positive that he doesn't need your help with a donation today. Even a single dollar will help him and his family and will go a long way to paying some of his medical bills, purchase medical equipment he'll need in his home and future therapy."

So far, the campaign has raised over $15,000 for the family. If you want to donate, you can visit their JustGiving page here.

Get well soon, Jake! And save me a taco.
