Student Ends Up In Magaluf And £700 Down After A Trip To The Pub

The feeling of waking up after a night out, checking your bank balance and being utterly devastated is one we can all relate to.

This lad takes that feeling to a whole new level.

Dexter Panashe naturally did what everyone does after a few Sunday drinks in the pub and booked an off the cuff trip to Magaluf.

The Northumbria University business student made his way down to his local for a few drinks with friends on the Sunday night. However, by 3am, the idea of jetting off to Maga became a reality.

Dexter and two of his pals headed to get their passports and some money before catching a flight to Salma Airport in Spain, from Newcastle Airport.

They spent £177 on a one-way flight at 9.35am, they then got a taxi and paid 55 euro for a triple hotel room.

A few hours passed and then Dexter remembered he was due to give a presentation in a lecture the following morning.

After just 8 hours in Spain, he was rushing to make his way back to Salma Airport and begin his journey back to uni.

Unfortunately, the only flight back to the UK was to Manchester Airport, rather than Newcastle. Because of this, Dexter had to fork out over £260 for a taxi back to the North East.

It wasn't until 3am before the 20-year-old eventually made it back to his house and he was £700 lighter.

"I'm pleased I did it; I'm in a great place in my life just now. Maybe in a few days when I check my bank account I might feel differently, but right now I'd like to do it all over again," Dexter told the Chronicle Live.

There's a fair few things to take away from this. Firstly, how the fuck is he affording a spontaneous £700 one day trip to Spain? When I was a student I could barely string enough money together to be able to afford Super Noodles and a can of Super Skol.

Secondly, and probably most importantly, Dexter is a fucking great name.

Since then the business student has gained a lot of attention but has no regrets about the trip.

Next time you're doing anything Dexter, give me a shout. Sounds like something I'd love to get involved in!
