This Man Is Selling His Bakery To A Homeless Man For 80p

Amazing.

If you were told that a man was selling his bakery for 80p, you'd likely call him an idiot.

However, given some context, you wouldn't call Michel Flamant anything of the sort.

Michel owns a bakery in Le Fournil Du Village, in France. Every morning he'd greet Jerome Aucant, a homeless man, with a coffee and a croissant, after they'd began an unlikely friendship.

Michel decided to help out Jerome with food and drink because he'd beg for change all day outside of his bakery. Jerome ended up paying back all of these favours in a much bigger way than Michel could have ever expected - by saving his life.

In December of last year, one of Michel's bread ovens began leaking carbon monoxide.

From outside the bakery, Jerome saw Michel struggling in the kitchen, staggering around. He immediately rang the emergency services.

Luckily Michel received treatment and spent 12 days in hospital, before returning to work.

Upon his return, he decided to hire Jerome as a thank you - and so Jerome began working part-time on the till on the ground floor.

Even from the basement, where Michel would bake his pastries, he could notice the immense dedication and hard work Jerome would put in.

When it came to the time when Michel would have to think about retiring, he once again made Jerome aware of his eternal gratitude for saving his life - offering him the entire business for 80p (1 Euro).

"If Jerome wasn't around that day I would have been a goner. What's more important, money or life? I don't care about money. I'm not rich but I don't care. I want to be free, I want to take it easy now. Jerome is a hard worker and he wants to succeed. He deserves a chance," Michel told The Local fr.

Jerome is set to take over the bakery in September.

"I want to work and the hours don't put me off. Michel has given me a real gift, and now I want to be worthy of it," he told The Local fr.

Amazing.
