Zac Efron Fans Describe His New Mullet As 'Highlight Of 2020'

It's been a funny (horrific) old year, and to top it all off - Zac Efron has grown a mullet.

The actor has been living in Australia for a few months now as he films for Anthony Hayes' new thriller Gold, and he is now rocking a new hairdo.

It's unclear whether the look is for his part, or if he just fancied it.

Whatever the case may be, people feel it's a hairy reflection of the year we've had:

Will the mullet turn out to be his character's look in Gold? I guess we'll have to wait and see when the movie premieres next year.

According to a summary of the flick, the story follows 'two drifters travelling through the outback who stumble across the biggest gold nugget ever found, the dream of immense wealth and greed takes hold'.

The synopsis continues: "They hatch a plan to protect and excavate their bounty with one man leaving to secure the necessary equipment. The other man remains and must endure the harsh desert climate, preying wolves and intruders, whilst battling the creeping doubt that he has been abandoned to his own fate."

AACTA Award-winning actor and filmmaker Hayes (Animal Kingdom, The Light Between Oceans, War Machine) will direct and co-star star along with award-winning actress Susie Porter (Ladies in Black, The Second), with the movie based on a screenplay he co-wrote with Polly Smyth.

Hayes said of the project: "This is an exciting, gripping and timely tale about greed, humanity, who we are, what we've done to the world and where we are heading if we aren't careful."

"To have Zac Efron as my main man on this film is an absolute gift and to see what he is creating already is like nothing we've seen from him before.

"I can't wait to deliver this bold, visceral and cinematic film to audiences all around the world."
