Many of us enjoy a good prank, but haven't got the commitment to pull the really strong ones off. Waiting by someone's front door with a bucket of water for three hours? You're alright, ta.
It's often an absolutely exhausting experience trying to pull off the perfect prank. But one man managed to convince his wife into helping him pull off a particularly ambitious practical joke, which involved wrapping paper. A LOT of wrapping paper.
Nichola Mullen-King, 36, came into the kitchen one Monday evening last month to find husband Carl, 34, had started covering the whole room in wrapping paper.

While Nichola was putting their son, six-year-old Max, to bed, Carl had begun on what started as a modest Elf on the Shelf prank, but soon spiralled into a mammoth operation.
Nichola assumed he was joking, but eventually decided to give him a hand.
Two hours and six rolls of paper later, the couple - from Newcastle-upon-Tyne - had completely transformed their kitchen into winter wonderland. Admittedly, a very brown one, but impressive nonetheless.

Nichola shared photos of their handiwork to Facebook earlier this week, and the post racked up more than 45k shares and 25k comments.
She wrote: "My a******e of a husband came up with the bright idea for us to wrap part of the kitchen for Elf on the Shelf.
"Two hours later and a divorce on the cards, it's done including the fruit, eggs, utensils and chopping board.

"Idiot even plugged the air freshener back in."
Civil servant Nichola explained that Max hadn't wanted the elf to return this year as he believes the pesky chap 'gets him into trouble with Santa'.
"But he had a last-minute change of heart on Saturday which prompted Carl to think outside of the box on the spot," Nichola explained.

"I assumed Carl, who is a customer service advisor, was joking when he said lets wrap the whole kitchen.
"But after reading Max a book and putting him to bed, he had started and asked me for a hand.
"I couldn't stop laughing but we were both panicking in case the noise would wake Max up and I joked a divorce was on the cards if he continued to tell me to 'shh'.
"Max's reaction in the morning was brilliant - he couldn't believe it!

"He was absolutely flabbergasted and said, 'Why do I always get the naughty Elf?'"
Nichola has since unwrapped the kitchen, a process that took her 40 minutes, and also plans to use the leftover paper to wrap Christmas presents.
Speaking of the reaction online, she added: "I shared it for my friends and family because I couldn't believe we had actually done it.
"When I see the amount of shares the following morning, I couldn't believe it.
"It has blown up!"
