Two Guys Are Trying To Visit Every Single UK Greggs Location

Two Guys Are Trying To Visit Every Single UK Greggs Location

The two brave Greggs-plorers have certainly got their work cut out for them...

If you're a fan of a steak bake or a devotee of the humble sausage roll, let me tell you about two intrepid heroes who are going above and beyond so that you don't have to.

Tom and Milo are a pair of students who decided last year that they would attempt to visit every single Greggs location in the United Kingdom.

That's a tall order. Greggs' 2018 annual report revealed it has more than 1,950 stores in the UK.

The number keeps going, as well. The company's corporate website suggests that they plan to have 2,500 very soon.

With that in mind, the boys have got their work cut out for them.

But, if something is worth doing, it's worth doing properly.

Tom explained: "Greggs has always been one of those sacred, defining institutions of Britain for us.

"We came up with an idea to visit all the Greggs in the UK last summer before quickly calculating the logistics and realising to complete the 'pilgrimage' within a year would require us to visit a total of five Greggs every day, for 365 days, and therefore eating about £2,000 worth of Sausage Rolls."

Yeah, that's unsustainable.

He continued: "We decided therefore to make it an ongoing project where we visit Greggs around the country and post long eccentric reviews describing the experience, attracting currently around 1,000 followers on Instagram.

"We've currently made reviews of 30 different Greggs, with many ready to be published in the pipeline."

30 down, around 1,920 odd to go.

Hey, Rome wasn't built in a day.

As for reviewing the locations, they've devised a unique system of ranking that grades each one. So far, Southfields in London sits atop the leaderboard.

Southfields - a whopping 8.8/10; the vegan sausage roll 'was so exemplary that it surpassed the bl***y good sausage roll. It's insides were fantastic, engaging me in a yearning to go and buy another'.

Tom explained: "Going by our carefully calculated ranking, the best Greggs we have visited is Southfields, ranking at 8.8/10 down to the outstanding taste, temperature and freshness of the pastries provided, as well as the variety on display and the enthusiasm of the staff."

A ringing endorsement, if ever there was one.

If you're inspired by this, you too can join the quest. Tom and Milo are on the lookout for dedicated Greggs-plorers to help out.

Tom added: "[Completing the pilgrimage] could take up to an entire lifetime of holy expeditions and excursions.

"We are looking to expand and recruit new members hopefully soon, however we want to ensure the quality of the reviews is unbiased and reliable as possible.

Thetford - a lowly 3.5/10; 'there was a total of almost 0 choice - only one shelf'.

Oh, and - of course - we had to ask, what is the best thing to order from Greggs?

"The best item has to be the all-time standard, magnum opus of Greggs: their sausage roll!

"It's really just an unparalleled icon.

"For dessert, my personal favourite is the sugar-strand doughnut."

There you have it, although I'm a steak bake man myself.
