Woman Gets Wasted At Christening And Ends Up In Ibiza

Woman Gets Wasted At Christening And Ends Up In Ibiza

"It's the stupidest thing I have ever done."

A christening is a great opportunity to wet the baby's head - but one woman from Salford absolutely drenched its bonce, getting so smashed she ended up boarding a flight to Ibiza.

Rachael Wynn is due to arrive back in Manchester today, £700 lighter, having made the ill-advised trip to the airport on Sunday after a christening spiralled out of control.

Reflecting on the impulsive decision to jet off to the Spanish island with nothing more than her passport and her bank card, the 32-year-old said it was a big mistake - unfortunately though, this realisation didn't dawn on her until she boarded the plane.

She left with only her passport and a bank card.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, she said: "I was at a christening and it was also my friend's birthday that day so I went to my friend's afterwards.

"My friends were already here in Ibiza and asked if I wanted to come. I've come out here with the clothes on my back, my bank card and my passport.

"I can't remember it, I was still loving life at the airport. It's the stupidest thing I have ever done. I'm not like this usually. I've never done anything like this.

"I was p*****. I was absolutely p*****. I had been drinking all day at this christening. When I got on the plane I thought 'what have I done?'."

As the alcohol wore off, the true extent of her drunken whimsy set in, and Rachael spent Monday desperately trying to book a flight home - conscious that she was supposed to be at work.

This is not Rachael's workplace.

She said: "I tried so hard to get a flight back yesterday (Monday). I had to ring my boss and explain and say I had a flight on Wednesday. He said I had to get a flight sooner than that. I managed to book one for this (Tuesday) morning but they emailed to say there were no flights left.

"I booked another for tonight (Tuesday) to go via Frankfurt but they didn't send me the tickets in time. I've now got a flight tomorrow (Wednesday). The whole thing has cost me about £700.

"My boss was not happy at all but he's alright now I think. He's a great boss and it's a great company to work for. He will be disappointed but hopefully he'll see the funny side.

"The only reason I went is because I thought I'd be able to get home in time for work. I feel really bad about it."

One person who doesn't need help seeing the funny side of the whole escapade is Rachael's mate Kristina Wilkinson, who dropped her off at the christening.

Speaking to the Manchester Evening News, she said: "Everyone is calling her crazy and I've personally never known anything like it. It's so funny.

"She said 'I've got work in the morning and when it escalates I'm going home'. She usually does. I was at work the next day and sent her a message asking 'did you get to work okay?' and she replied and said: 'mate I'm in Ibiza'.

"I couldn't believe it so she sent me a little video with palm trees. She was laughing but she said 'my boss is going mad and if I'm not in work tomorrow I'm getting sacked'."

Let Rachael's tale serve as a reminder to us all to avoid christenings at all costs.
