People all over the world unwillingly attempt to claim the Dumbest Crime of the Year award.

While no one ever wants to win the coveted prize, nor does anyone actually hand it out, it seems like every year there's a group of criminals who just get the whole thing wrong.

It seems as though Queensland has an entry for 2019 after a bloke robbed a petrol station. While that might seem like a stock standard story, the man did it in bizarre fashion.

How in the hell this guy thought this grocery bag was going to help him evade capture is beyond us.

Queensland Police have released a statement saying: "Police are searching for a man who robbed a service station while attempting to disguise himself with a recyclable shopping bag at Caboolture last night.

"Just before 8.30pm the man produced a knife and made demands towards the female attendant at the Lower King Street store.

"The staff member complied with his demands and the man left the business with a sum of cash and a quantity of cigarettes. No one was physically injured as a result of the incident.

"During the robbery, the man attempted to hide his identity by wearing a blue shopping bag on his head before removing it to carry the stolen cigarettes.

"The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 165-170cm tall with short dark hair and blue eyes."

What's even more bizarre is the bloke takes the goddamn bag off during the robbery to take the cash.

If you're wanting to see who was a serious contender for the Dumbest Criminal from last year then it's a doozy.

CCTV cameras captured two wannabe thieves in Shanghai trying to break into a store late at night.

You can see the dynamic duo gather outside the business before walking up to the front door and then one bloke tosses a brick at the window. As he runs away, his mate chucks a second brick and clocks his friend square in the side of the head.

It looks as though the impact was big enough to knock the guy out cold. The conscious one then has to drag his buddy away from the crime scene.

The two might not have even been looking to rob the place and merely vandalise or deface it but whatever their intention, it appears the owners have had the last laugh.

Imagine waking up in the morning to check over the footage and seeing that bumbling event unfold before your very eyes.
