Smashed it

For countless people across the globe, the coronavirus pandemic has left a football-shaped hole in their hearts.

In a bid to build a bit of camaraderie during these football-free times, players and fans alike have been taking part in the #StayAtHomeChallenge, which sees people do kick-ups with a toilet roll, before booting it away and nominating someone else.

One guy from Hailsham, East Sussex, absolutely smashed the challenge - but not in the way he had planned.

Liam Beckett, a 26-year-old plumber, was approaching an admirable 20 kick-ups in the kitchen of his family home when he inadvertently kicked the handle of the oven causing the door to explode. "F**k," was his understandable reaction.

Liverpool fan Liam had been inspired to attempt the challenge after watching Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher have a go, but like the former, he made a costly slip-up.

Speaking to LADbible, his dad Andy said: "I was just getting out of my van after getting home from work when he walked out of the front door with what was left of the door.

"The irony is he promised to cook his mother a roast dinner for Mother's Day."

Starting to look less like an accident now, isn't it?

Fortunately though, Liam's foot came out of the accident unscathed and he has since made amends by ordering a new door and purchasing a slow cooker - so Liam's mum will get a Mother's Day meal and we've all had a good laugh at his expense. Great stuff.

And to be fair to him, Carragher's effort wasn't much better...

If this is the first you've seen of the challenge, then it only feels fair that we let you see how it's done properly, so here's Leo and co.:

But please, before you try the #StayAtHomeChallenge, make sure you do it safely/away from ovens.

Let's all bring some positivity, support and fun to anyone who might find themselves in isolation as a result of the coronavirus spread. Need some entertainment? Join Isolation Nation: https://www.facebook.com/groups/coronasupport/
