Fixing a tyre can be a real pain in the ass. A flat can strike at the most inopportune time, whether you're late for work, on a road trip or in the pouring rain; they're never a fun chore.

Now, if you haven't got a spare, that's when you run into some serious issues because how the hell are you going to get anywhere without a tow?

Well, one bloke in California was caught trying to fix his flat in a rather peculiar way.

A 'citizen' was walking through Orange County when they noticed a 'suspicious man' trying to sort out their Mercedes. The citizen was so concerned about the situation that they called 911.

According to a statement from the Orange County Sheriff Department, the 'the 26-year-old man was trying to use gauze and Band-Aids to repair his tires', which were blown on both sides. Now, we're not tyre experts, but something tells me that won't work.

The statement added: "He was arrested for being under the influence of drugs and taken to jail."

Police uploaded the situation to their Facebook page and people have found it hilarious.

One person wrote: "Well that's his problem, he wasn't using real Band-Aids. Everyone knows the generic brands don't stick."

Another said: "They should have waited 20 mins to watch him try and inflate the tires by mouth."

While there were loads of people who found the situation funny, not everyone was impressed.

"I find it shocking that everyone finds this funny!! This person is obviously ill, could have killed someone while driving around and has family that is no doubt hurting and have been through hell!" said one concerned user.

The person who called the cops has also revealed himself to shed more light on the moment he encountered Mr Band-Aid Tyre Man.

"Kind of glad I called the sheriffs department now!" the man wrote on Facebook.

"When I approached him he said he was trying to fix his tires while in shorts sitting on the ground with no shoes.

"He had leaves and branches in his front bumper and both driver side tires looked like he hit the curb and must have jumped up in the landscaping area."

It's good that this person is off the roads and not trying to fix their tyres with a goddamn Band-Aid.

Although, it would have been funny watching the person trying to inflate the wheels once the handy work was done.
