Liberal MP Roasted After Being Caught Congratulating Himself On Facebook

“Fantastic. Great move. Well done Angus.”

When you're a politician, you rarely get praise from the public and only hear from them when they're upset (which can be a lot these days).

So it's understandable that you might need a few encouraging words to keep yourself moving in the right direction.

That seems to have happened for embattled Liberals MP Angus Taylor, who just wanted someone, anyone to congratulate him for proposing a bunch of new car parks for rail commuters.

So he decided to thank himself.

In a screenshot that's gone viral on social media, you can see the MP has commented on his own Facebook post with: "Fantastic. Great move. Well done Angus."

Who knows whether this was someone working in his office who forgot to switch accounts when they were hurling the praise or maybe Angus just really wanted to see some positive remarks in this dark, cruel world of Aussie politics.

Whoever did it, it doesn't matter because they quickly deleted the comment, hoping it wouldn't raise any eyebrows.

But they forgot that it's 2019 and these things are like a bushfire during a hot Aussie summer.

To be fair, if anything, Angus should be happy about all this because now his posts are choc-full of comments. However they're all really just rehashing what he said himself.

Hey, beggars can't be choosers.

Virtually no post he's done in the last few days has received less than 100 comments.

If anything this will be a welcome distraction from the heat Mr Taylor has been dealing with over a disastrous $80 million water deal between the government and Eastern Australia Agriculture.

He says he cut ties with the company before he became a politician in 2013.

This election campaign surely has been interesting, and we're not talking about policies or promises. It seems like pollies have been getting themselves into interesting or weird circumstances since the campaigning started.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has greeted a Korean lady with a Chinese phrase and refused to skol a beer on Anzac Day when faced with a classic drinking chant.

His party has seen a few ministers caught slagging off Muslims, a gay MP and women's abilities to get pay rises.

The One Nation Party also has had a fair share of scandals, with Queensland party leader Steve Dickson resigning over a strip club video and another candidate saying the only thing worse than a gay person in power was a woman in power.

And we've still got a little more than two weeks to go. Yay for us.
