A Snapchat video documenting the moments before a crash that killed five people, including a mother and her two youngest children, has been released.

The shocking footage shows that Pablo Cortes III, 22, and his passenger Jolie Bartolome, 19, were travelling 115mph in Tampa, Florida.

Cortes III lost control of his vehicle, a Volkswagen Golf, and crashed into a minivan that was carrying Marianela Murillo and her four children. She and her two youngest children (aged nine and 10) were killed. Her other two kids are in critical condition. They are 18 and 15 years old and remain in hospital.

Cortes III and passenger Bartolome were also killed in the collision.

After hitting the minivan, the Golf hit another car and seriously injured the driver, 54-year-old Carla Marie Wyman.

The snap does not show the collision, but does show him speeding.

Florida Highway Patrol said speed 'was likely a factor in the crash' - according to the Daily Mail. Likely as in definitely?

Pablo Cortes' mother, Maria Cortes, wrote on her Facebook page: "All I ask is respect for us at this time and prayers for our entire family. God knows all things."

Of course, with the 'likeliness' he was at fault, it is surprising she isn't more apologetic to the passenger and even more so the three others he killed. Witnesses have also claimed the incident was due to racing, though officials have said that, as of yet, there is no concrete evidence to support that that affirmation.
