Sushi is a sacred Japanese dish that has been around for hundreds of years and is enjoyed by people around the world.

Whether it's maki, temaki, uramaki, sashimi or nigiri - they're all delicate pieces of art that should be cherished. These food artists weave seafood, meat, vegetables, seaweed and rice together to form these little bites of heaven.

But one Aussie bloke has turned the industry on its head and given it a touch of tru-blu culture.

Reddit user chaxuk has posted his beautiful abomination to social media and it's received a mix opinion.

Sticking with tradition, the man used sticky rice and seaweed like a champ but then improvised and used a few ingredients that many would find wild.

He added Tasty Cheese and pickle to the sushi and then opted for Vegemite instead of wasabi and was hoping to chuck in some VB as the soy sauce but ran out and used Shiraz.

You can just hear Daryl Braithwaite's 'The Horses' playing as you look at this incredible Aussie concoction. Interestingly, the bloke's chopsticks went walkabout and he decided to use bloody two Faber-Castell pens.

He answered many people's questions on Reddit, with loads of them consisting of 'why'.

There was a 'yeah, nah', someone called it a 'sushi abomination' however another thought it was 'Innovative. Entrepreneurial. Excellent.'

But if you're wondering how it tasted (aren't we all), the man says it wasn't great, adding: "Surprisingly unpleasant. I thought it would be just like a cheese & Vegemite sanger.

"I think there was too much umami and salt, and the sticky rice was a bad match for fatty cheese."

"Don't try this at home. Needs work. I was debating whether to do cheese & pickle or chopped timtam to be honest."

I think we can collectively agree that latter option would be outrageous.
