Brits Respond To 'Full American Breakfast' That Just Isn't Up To Scratch

Brits Respond To 'Full American Breakfast' That Just Isn't Up To Scratch

'I'll stick to my full English fry up'

The UK and the US share a special bond, or at least that's what politicians have continually told us down the years.

But if we do indeed have a magical connection, that doesn't mean we agree on everything: what football is, who should be able to have guns, and what a fry up should look like, for example.

The latter cultural contrast was brought under the spotlight on Reddit, where a photo of a 'full American breakfast' was shared.

The dish is comprised of two rashers of bacon, two fried eggs, two precariously placed slices of toast and a pile of shoestring potatoes.

The so-called 'full American breakfast'.

The execution of these components is certainly questionable, and there's also many notable absentees for those of us used to a full English: mushrooms, baked beans, hash browns and black pudding, to name but a few.

Predictably then, Brits weren't impressed by what they saw.

Commenting on the post, one person said: "I'll stick to my full English fry up."

Another added: "Proud to be British right now."

A third said: "Clearly haven't had a full English before... wtf is this monstrosity lol."

While another unimpressed Reddit user said: "I thought this was a satirical jibe at an American's attempt at a Full English at first."

And another underwhelmed concurred: "Personally I think that an English breakfast is way better than whatever this thing is."

In defence of the US though, the breakfast put forward is a shoddy flagbearer for the nation, with many American breakfast fans pointing out that it was distinctly lacking in many departments.

One person commented: "What happened to that bacon?? Also missing pancakes. Guessing this was not made in America."

Another said: "I think to be considered FULL American you need at least one more portion of carbs, at least one more source of fat, and at least two more servings of sugar.

"Oh also that bacon doesn't look piggy enough..."

A third added: "Needs 3x as many eggs, hot sauce, cherry tomatoes, bacon that doesn't look like you could use it to replace shingles on your roof, and a cup of black coffee.

"But that's personal preference."

Hopefully the original poster doesn't get too offended by the bacon dig in that last comment. Perhaps they can comfort themselves with the fact this person is clearly a total loose cannon (six eggs?!).
