As we're all cooped up just now, we're having to find new and interesting ways to amuse ourselves, pass the time, and - if you've got them - keep the kids occupied.

With that in mind, a mum decided to achieve all three by using her kids' love of McDonald's food to replicate a trip to the drive-thru, complete with her own home made Happy Meals.

Karen Lennon managed to make up her own packaging, created her own chicken nuggets, and even used an online simulator to achieve that authentic drive-thru experience from the comfort of her own home.

Hey, if you're bored, why not have a bit of fun with it?

Perhaps the strangest thing about all of this - while we're here - is that someone had already uploaded a virtual drive-thru to YouTube for her to discover.

Well, perhaps not that strange, it's actually the popular YouTuber and sausage roll singing sensation LadBaby. He released his own video of this sort when he tried to visit a McDonald's and realised that it was closed.

Anyway, whilst streaming the incredibly niche video, Karen was able to recreate the experience with her son in a toy car and allow him to approach as if he was heading towards the window.

He asked the (simulated) drive-thru attendant for a McNugget Happy Meal, then was told to pull over to the waiting area whilst his meal was prepared.

Meanwhile, Karen was busy in the kitchen knocking up the dinner herself.

Then, after the surprisingly realistic DIY Maccies experience was complete, she shared the video of the whole thing onto Facebook, into the 'Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK' group.

She wrote: "When I bring McDonald's to the kids. Made tea time a bit more fun and the kids loved it."

Since she uploaded the video it has been liked well over a thousand times, with many people obviously considering trying this out themselves.

Hell, there will be adults out there who are missing McDonald's as much as their children.

As they're all closed, McDonald's did actually reveal the recipe for their iconic sausage and egg McMuffin the other day for anyone jonesing for their regular Maccies breakfast.

If you're really desperate for your McMuffin fix, you can check out that recipe here. As you've probably guess, it contains the following ingredients: English muffins, sausage meat, eggs, American cheese slices and potato.

One of the benefits of staying at home, it seems, is that you can have a McMuffin at any hour of the day.
