People Around The World Are Trying To Make Their Own McDonald's

People Around The World Are Trying To Make Their Own McDonald's

Who doesn't love a McDonald's? It's the universal fast food restaurant that hits a certain spot that only a Maccies can reach.

Well, it turns out that some people love it so much that they have decided to start making their own versions. They're getting pretty good at it too. Take a look at this picture.

Looks like a Big Mac, right? Except it isn't. It was the work of Daniel Whyte in his own house, trying to recreate exactly the process and taste of his favourite McDonald's burger. Daniel is a member of a group called 'Homemade McDonald's' - which is exactly what it sounds like it should be.

It's run by a guy called Joel Cornell, an Australian visual artist.

OK, let's just start by saying that the whole endeavour somewhat misses the point of fast food in that it looks like it takes quite a bit of time and is quite difficult to do.

If you want a fast food burger, you can literally go out and buy one in just about any location in the world, so why would you go to the trouble of not only working out how to meticulously create one, but then actually preparing and doing it?

Well, Joel told The Mirror: "I used to make 'McDonald's' food for friends at barbecues,

"It was just a bit of fun, but people said, 'hey, this is really good', so I shared some photos of my food online and people were interested. I started the group and it went from there."

And it is growing - since February this year they've managed to get several thousand submissions, as well as - crucially - people submitting their own efforts.

Joel continued: "People seem really into it, they love it. McDonald's is quite nostalgic. It reminds everyone of birthday parties when they were kids and everything, so I think they quite like trying to make it themselves.

"Trying to get that flavour and look is creative. And obviously nailing the process feels pretty cool. It's quite rewarding.

"I still eat genuine McDonald's. I had one the other day. But I guess making it at home is something different. And a bit healthier.

"I thought it was funny but I didn't think it would get this big. People keep coming and posting their food pictures".

Fair play - whatever keeps them off the streets.

As for the efforts flying in from others around the globe, some are better than others.

Practice makes perfect though. I'd be willing to eat that, even if it's not a real McDonald's burger.
