The owner of a steakhouse hit back after receiving a barrage of abuse from a customer who threatened to 'report him to Tripadvisor' and slap him after being made to wait 12 minutes to be seated.
The Gatehouse Steakhouse in Dolgellau, Wales, was one of the many restaurants that opted to take part in the Eat Out to Help Out scheme last month, but even that wasn't enough discount for one diner.
Posting on the restaurant's Facebook page, the owner shared a stream of increasingly aggressive messages from a customer who threatened to 'f***ing slap' him if ever saw him. Charming.
The message starts off with the customer complaining that he and his wife were made to stand outside for 12 minutes while waiting for a table, before asking: "Do you think this is okay? I'm not f***ing happy about this."

The owner calmly apologised for the wait, explaining that although guests were given a one-hour-and-45-minute slot it can difficult to get them to leave if they're still finishing their drinks. He then asked if everything was OK with the food and service.
The irate customer says the food and service was fine and that the 'stakes were cooked perfect [sic]' but that he was 'f***ing p***ed that you made us wait'.
Again, the restaurateur apologised for the wait, saying that he and his team 'try to look after everyone' before thanking him for coming into the restaurant and telling him to enjoy the rest of his stay in Wales. Pretty nice, eh?

Well, it turns out the customer didn't think so. He accused him of 'getting cocky', before adding: "Are you not gonna give me a free meal or some money back for the wait? Let's be straight you either give us a free meal or the money back or in gonna report you to TripAdvisor its your choice [sic]'.
Not put out by the threat, the restaurant owner explains he couldn't have kicked a customer out mid-drink and says that staff had suggested the fella go and get a pint in one of the local pubs while he waited before adding: "Please do your worst. I have zero respect for that site [Tripadvisor]."

At this point, the man gets even angrier and, in an expletive-filled message, called him a 'd***head' and a 'cheeky c***' before going on to say he will slap him if he ever meets him.
However, the restaurant owner wasn't put out by the threat and simply replied: "I'm at the Gatehouse Steakhouse now should you wish to slap me... hands full making five kilos of coleslaw, but I can take a break."
The response seemed to take the wind out of the sails of the complainer, who sent a couple more swear words before giving up.
