A woman has been roundly lambasted for making spaghetti bolognese and grating an egg on the top of it, with some telling her the bizarre addition 'should be illegal'.
OK, so we all know that people get pretty precious about what ways their favourite foods are served, and that counts doubly for Italian dishes.
People think that seriously bad stuff should happen to people who want pineapple on a pizza, and heaven forfend you try to add something to a carbonara recipe that isn't expected.
However, this poor woman - an NHS worker known only as Nurse Emma - shared her unusual preference for grated egg on bolognese on TikTok and has received nothing short of a roasting for it.
To be fair, she was courting it a bit by saying: "Right, so this is something that people tell me is weird, but I wanted to come on here and do this to see if anyone else does it."
No, no one else does it.
She continued: "I grate egg on top of my spaghetti bolognese.
"I haven't seen anyone else do this, so I thought I would finally get an answer and see if anyone else does it.
"Does anyone think this is strange or is this normal? Please let me know."
It's quite strange, but different strokes for different folks, right? As long as everyone is enjoying themselves then it's all good.
However, that hasn't stopped several thousand people getting in touch to tell her how much they hate the idea.
Since the video was first shared it has garnered more than 88,000 views, and they're mostly from people chipping away at her bolognese skills.
Several people went so far as to brand the whole exercise as 'illegal'.
One said: "I'm sure this is illegal... if it's not it should be."
Another wrote: "What?? No... I grate cheese on top of my spag bol."
A slightly more balanced observer commented: "I think there's probably a reason you haven't seen anyone else do it.
"But if it works for you, keep on grating."
Exactly, if you think it's good, it's probably good. Just don't try to serve it at any dinner parties to friends from Bologna.
Not everyone was dead set against it, though.
One person even said that it was the way they'd always known it.
They wrote: "Basically my dad brought me up with this, so this was normal."
They continued: "His mum did it and it's been passed down the generations, so until I had done this video I hadn't realised it wasn't normal.
"It was completely the done thing in our family.
"Have you tried it? And also I don't just put the egg on my spaghetti, I also have some cheese. It's such a good combination and I could never imagine eating spaghetti bolognese without it."
Righto, whatever you fancy.
