Because most people love a chippy tea (and rightly so), National Fish and Chips Day was pushed back due to the coronavirus.

It was due to be held in June but as eateries had to close, it's been rescheduled for today (4 September).

If that wasn't enough reason to celebrate - what if we told you that you could get tonight's chippy pretty much for free? 2020 just got good again, right?

The angels at TopCashback have set up an offer that gives people the chance to get a fiver back if you keep hold of your receipt.

Between now and midnight next Friday (13 September) you can claim your money back by taking a picture of your fish and chips (either the meal itself of the receipt) via the TopCashback app and a few days later you'll be awarded £5 into your bank account which will likely cover most of the cost of your meal - unless you got it from some super spenny chippy.

You can register for an account here and the offer is valid if you are not already a member of TopCashback.

Speaking about the date change, the organisers of National Fish and Chip Day said: "We are absolutely delighted to say that our celebration of the nation's favourite dish will go ahead in 2020, but a little later than planned on Friday September 4.

"As well as being one of the most popular awareness days of the year, we want National Fish and Chip Day this year to be even more special as we say a very big thank you to this amazing industry who are at the centre of every community, and who have, when able to do so safely, adapted to keep us fed, and when that wasn't possible have kept us all safe by remaining closed at great sacrifice to their business."
