Meet the young lad who is dedicating his time to helping kids in Malawi receive the education they deserve.

Sam Morris, from South Gloucestershire, first traveled to Malawi with his school in 2014 when he was just 17-years-old. His love for the 'warm heart of Africa' was born.

Just seven months after his first trip, Sam was back on a flight to Malawi, where he began working voluntarily at a preschool.

"I was set on helping school become a reality for the children who are going to be the future of the country," Sam told us.

Sam joined up with the UK registered charity Butterfly Space who work to create opportunities for the local people living in Nkhata Bay.

Government run schools in Malawi often have more than 100 pupils in each classroom - compared to 30 in the UK.

In the northern town of Nkahta Bay, there is no primary school that meets international standards. But the dedicated group of volunteers plan to change that.

Butterfly currently runs a primary classroom and two nursery schools. They've already had a positive impact on the lives of the children who attend.

"The children who attend have made a solid start to their education.

"However, they need to graduate and move into a more substantial environment to further develop their education," Sam said.

For their next project, Sam and the rest of the volunteers hope to build another primary school with three classrooms, a kitchen, a playground, additional living space for teachers and a garden where kids can grow their own food.

The build could start this summer meaning many more children could receive a vital head-start in life, but that's only if fundraising goes to plan.

Sam, now 19-years-old, is currently back in UK trying to raise £5,000 to help fund the projects, although the total cost will be £20,000-£25,000.

He then plans to go back for the opening of the school in September and to volunteer for a fourth time for another two months.
