A group of uni students found a lovely way to say thanks to their teacher after spending a strange semester with him teaching them over the internet.

The students told their teacher - Dr Brown - that they appreciate his efforts by tuning into a Zoom lesson with their cameras off and then revealing themselves as one holding up placards bearing messages of thanks for his efforts.

In the video, which was shared to TikTok and has since gone viral, it's obvious to see that Dr Brown was made quite emotional by the gesture, even moved to tears at one point.

Well, it's been a year that has been difficult for everyone. It must be nice to feel that emotional for a good reason, for a change.

Educational settings have been among the worst affected by the coronavirus pandemic, with schools, colleges and universities all forced online.

Despite that, Dr Brown's students obviously think the world of him, and just wanted to share their gratitude with him in a co-ordinated fashion at the end of term.

The video was filmed in a freshman class at Chapman University on the day of the class' final lesson of this year.

Dr Brown obviously had no idea what was about to happen, asking his students: "Is this the new cool thing to do? Not turn your camera on?"

Then, just as he is about to accept the fact that he won't get to see his students faces, one of them announces: "We actually wanted to do something..."

That's when the entire class revealed themselves behind the cameras holding up messages that all contain some variant of the phrase 'thank you Dr Brown'.

It's quite sweet, really.

Dr Brown, taken aback, can be heard to say: "Aw, you guys are gonna make me cry."

Then, because there is simply no reason not to, he goes right ahead and cries.

It's this sort of thing that must make his incredible tough job this year feel completely worth it.

The video was aptly captioned: "Surprised the sweetest teacher on our last day of class."

In the comments, people have been queuing up to remark on how sweet the video is.

One wrote: "Not to be dramatic but I would die for Dr Brown."

Another said: "I'm literally sobbing."

A third commented: "He's everyone's professor now."

If only he could be, eh?
