An overweight Sydney woman who decided to shed pounds after her ex told her to 'lose some weight' has managed to lose an impressive 10 stone.

Hayley Westoby, 25, put on weight in her first year of university in the main due to takeaways and alcohol. At her heaviest, she was weighing in at 18st 7lbs (119 kilos).

After she and her ex had an argument where he said that she needed to 'lose some weight', she decided to challenge herself to lose half a stone (five kilos).

Once she got the taste for healthier food and the gym, she actually surpassed her initial goal and lost 10 stone 2lbs (65 kilos).

She's now a size 10 and weighs 8st 5lbs (54 kilos).

She told the Daily Mail: "Before my weight had been mentioned, I hadn't realised how much weight I'd put on.

"It had been a gradual thing since starting university, where I gained the 'Fresher 10' and then some, thanks to my student diet of junk food and booze.

"But after the shock of realising how much weight I had put on had worn off, it made me look at my party lifestyle and I realised I had actually let myself go.

"I decided to set myself an achievable target of losing five kilos and was amazed at how quickly it came off. So I kept going, educating myself on exercise and nutrition along the way."

She continued: "Now I've lost 65 kilos completely naturally and am so proud of what I've achieved. I'll never be embarrassed by my body again."

In March 2014, Paul Moore went to Future Music Festival in Melbourne not knowing his life was about to change forever.

He was having a great day out with his friends when he decided to get up on his mate's shoulders and take his top off.

All pretty normal for a festival, right? Wrong.

Paul, 22, weighed 20st 3lbs at the time and was snapped by a fellow reveller who then sent the image to a gym meme page with the caption 'Do you even lift bro'.

Paul, from Cork, Ireland, but on a holiday working visa in Australia, was subjected to the type of vile online abuse no one should ever be put through.

Comments included:

  • "His parents should have drowned him at birth, he's so ugly."
  • "Why was someone that size even allowed into the festival."
  • "Fat whale probably had to buy two tickets to get in he's so big."
  • "That guy whose shoulders he's on is in a wheelchair now."

He later appeared in Zoo Magazine with a nasty caption too...

Despite several of Paul's friends reporting the picture, it wasn't taken down until 12 months later. By that point, the damage had been done.

Every time Paul got drunk he couldn't help but go back on the page to see what people were saying, which only made him drink more. He was drinking pretty much every night of the week and averaged around three bottles of wine a day.

It got so bad he started to self-harm.

He joined Slimming World, where they suggested that he gave up drinking if he really wanted to lose weight. After cutting out the booze, Paul managed to drop seven stone in less than a year before heading back to Australia but with an entirely new mind-set.

Now 11st 7lbs, Paul has an entirely new lease of life the Internet bullies couldn't possibly touch.

So much has Paul's life turned around that he now receives hundreds of messages on Instagram from people who have seen his story and decided to change themselves mentally and physically.

He told TheLADbible: "Even now I still can't get my head around how much my life has changed. I just want people to know there is always better days ahead and it's unbelievable what can be achieved with a bit of willpower and self-belief."

Too right, Paul.
