Herd Of Buffalo Takes On Pride Of Lions In Dramatic Clip

The lions were outnumbered but not backing down

Here's a scrap you absolutely would not want to get in the middle of as pride of lions face off against a herd of buffalo.

In the clip, which was filmed at South Africa's Luangwa National Park, the group of hungry lions try and surround the massive herd, but it all goes wrong for the big cats when the buffalo start fighting back.

There's a bit of stand-off with neither side wanting to back down.

In the end the brave buffalo give the lions a run for their money and they end up wandering off, presumably to go and find some food elsewhere.

Shenton Safaris, who filmed the battle, shared the footage on YouTube, writing: "During an afternoon game drive, we witnessed the Mwamba-Kaingo Pide challenge a herd of 500 buffalo.

"Both sides were determined to win, but the buffalo stood together and the lions couldn't get through their defence."

The lionesses are often the hunters in a pride, and usually make sure to attack big animals - such as these buffalo - in a group for safety. Obviously, the buffalo are wise to this and usually travel in massive herds to help protect themselves and the group.

We all love watching an epic battle between animals in the wild, which might have been what one film crew were hoping for when they dropped one of their cameras in among a pride of lions in Great Kruger National Park, South Africa.

However, what actually happened was an adorable clip of a couple of baby lions going about their business.

The clip starts with the young lion picking up the camera in his jaws before strutting off. He then drops it, and has a little chill, because this is his directorial debut and he's a bit knackered.

At this point, a couple more lions appear and the camera is picked back up.

The cute clip ends with the lions licking the GoPro.

The really shocking part of this whole saga is the fact that the camera got the camera back and that it was in one-piece.

In fact, I feel like GoPro should use this as an advert for the durability of its products.
