A bodybuilder says she's had to turn down marriage proposals from fellas who can't get enough of her bulging muscles.

Daniela Zuccarini, from Rome, has always kept herself fit and healthy but in 2019 decided to give bodybuilding a whirl - and she hasn't looked back.

She says exercising makes her feel both mentally and physically stronger and now does intensive weight training sessions every day alongside cardio twice a week. She's also cut meat and dairy out of her diet to keep herself looking lean.

Daniela says she uses social media as a 'source of inspiration' and regularly shares snaps of herself as well as chatting to other fitness fanatics. She also receives a lot of attention from men who love her muscles and has even had the odd marriage proposal.

However, not everyone has been so nice and Daniela has also encountered trolls who have said she's 'too muscly' for a woman - one person even asked Daniela to take a blood test as she didn't believe a woman could hone such a physique.

But Daniela doesn't let the negative comments get her down and says she's happier than ever with her body. She hopes to inspire other women to follow their own fitness goals.

She says: "Fitness has always been a part of who I am. In my 20s, it really became a passion when my partner at the time encouraged me to take up running.

"I ran regularly for 25 years, but I wanted to take things further. I became interested in training and started working on my diet too.

"I decided to take up bodybuilding a year ago. I started by chance. It simply just seemed like something I wanted to try and I've since become really passionate about it.

"I now train in the weight room every single day and twice a week, I add thirty-minutes of cardio too. I've also cut out meat and dairy.

"Gaining muscle mass takes perseverance and sacrifice. As they say, no pain, no gain.

"Despite that, I feel better than ever. I've always worked as a model and still get many requests but since I started bodybuilding, I've gained so much confidence and I feel stronger and more certain of who I am."

Daniela says the fitness community on Instagram helps to push and encourage her.

"Social media has been a great source of inspiration," Daniela adds.

"You can connect with other people in the fitness community who encourage you to chase your goals which can be liberating.

"Most of the responses to my page have been lovely. I don't think people are intimidated by my muscles because I'm quite feminine too and contrary to popular belief, I think lots of men like muscular women.

"Of course, not all do and I've been told that I'm 'too muscly' for a woman but I don't care. I'm happy with my body and that's what matters.

"When I'm dating, I've found that it's not easy for a man who doesn't have the same lifestyle as me to approach me, but it's never been a problem from my point of view.

"You wouldn't think muscles could be so divisive. Some men have sent me marriage proposals whereas I've also had a woman tell me to go for a blood test because she didn't think this could be healthy.

"Either way, it just spurs you on to achieve your goals. Bodybuilding requires mental strength and diligence too.

"If there are other women out there with a fitness goal, don't let anything hold you back. Do everything you can to achieve your goal - no matter what others say."
