Expert Explains Why You Shouldn't Tell Flight Attendants That You're Drunk

As the world starts to open back up for international travel following a lengthy lay-off due to the Covid-19 pandemic - which hasn't gone away, by the way - it's worth remembering that there are certain rules that must be obeyed when you're travelling abroad on a plane.

Of course, most of us know them, but barely a week passes where we don't hear some story or other about people getting booted of a plane for misbehaving in some way.

As well as potentially getting you in trouble with the law - they tend to take a pretty dim view of people p***ing about on aeroplanes - they could just really inconvenience you or make your journey a miserable one.

With that in mind, here's two words that you should never say to your flight attendant.

'I'm drunk'.

Obviously, drunkenness on a plane is one of the most common forms of p***-aboutery that makes the news, but even if you're joking, it's worth not telling the flight crew that you're drunk.

That isn't to say you can't enjoy a drink before and during your flight, it's when it goes to far that you're likely to end up in hot water.

Willis Orlando, the senior product operations specialist at insider information platform Scott's Cheap Flights, explained to Birmingham Live why - even if you are a little bit tipsy - you should simply not mention it to the flight attendants.

Just be quiet and behave yourself.

Orlando said: "Certainly a lot of us get very convivial with flight attendants and we want to pal around with them and make these kinds of jokes and we feel light-hearted-and maybe we make a joke about being intoxicated."

Flight attendants have the right to refuse you travel, boot you off the plane, and to stop your receiving any more alcoholic drinks.

Orlando continued: "They have to make a decision whether you're safe to stay on board.

"There are also things that they can do to penalise you.

"They could put you on a list of problem passengers-and this could all be misunderstanding if you make a simple joke."

Nobody wants to end up on the no-fly list, right?

That could put paid to your international travel for good, if you are a particularly bad case.

So, as international travel gets going once again, just remember that you can have a drink, but try not to get drunk and act like a p***k.

Also, even if you're not drunk, it's not that funny a joke anyway.
