Father And Son Aren't Messing About As They Tile Garage With 33,000 Copper Coins

Father And Son Aren't Messing About As They Tile Garage With 33,000 Copper Coins

They have spent £670 on the floor so far.

I don't know about you, but I always end up with so much loose change at the end of the day. What are you supposed to do with a handful of 1p and 2p coins? Apart from feed them to the self-service machine when you're buying your lunchtime sarnie and pissing off everyone behind you.

But Dominic Lowe and his son, also called Dominic, had a bright idea. Dom snr might not have been so creative when naming his kid, but he did come up with an unusual way to use up all that shrapnel.

The likely LADs, who live in Pensford, Somerset, thought that using 2ps as money was a bit limited when there is some interior design potential. They decided to actually tile the garage floor with 2p coins. That's right, so far they have painstakingly glued £670 ($900) worth of tuppence to the floor. That's thousands of coins

That's one way to spend the weekend.

But it wasn't a scattershot use of the glue gun, they have made a really sharp design. Using 32 bottles of Coca Cola, the pair washed some of the 2p coins until they shined in order to make a stripy pattern. It's an amazing use of spare change.

So far Dominic and Dominic Junior are about halfway through the project. It looks like they have run out of coins.

To be fair, it's a pretty expensive way to tile a garage floor. If they're halfway through and have already spent £670, they're easily going to spend over a grand on this floor. All those 2ps do eventually add up. And weirdly enough, 2p coins have 3p worth of copper in them, which makes no sense.

The main question is, did they take some notes into the bank and exchange them for 2ps or did they just have that amount of loose change hanging round the house? In that case, will they be waiting until they have built up another £670 worth of 2ps to finish the garage floor?

Who knows where this could lead? Maybe they'll glue 10ps to the house and make it shiny and silver? Or they could make a pattern out of all the coins for the floor inside their house.

The possibilities are endless. As long as they don't run out of money of course.
