Last weekend 19-year-old Nathan French decided to embark on a daring fundraising mission in aid of charity.

His grandma suffers with frontal lobe dementia, so his plan to raise money to help combat the illness for Dementia UK was to scale all 1085 metres of Mount Snowdon - but with a twist.

The teenager decided to take on summit wearing just his Superman boxers.

When he arrived in Gwynedd with his dad around midday it was raining. Although the conditions were not the best and his dad had repeatedly told him it was a bad idea, he refused to be deterred. He got a sandwich and coffee down him - made sure he was hydrated with plenty of water - and set off.

And, as you might imagine, the two of them received quite the response from their fellow ramblers on the way up.

Nathan told LADbible: "I had numerous responses from people walking past but it was all love.

"Whenever I passed someone they'd ask whether it was for a bet. They were all supportive when I told them it was for charity.

However, his dad wasn't as sure. "He didn't enjoy the day, he hated every second because he was worried," he added.

Despite his dad's growing concern as temperate became colder and colder - and the rain kept pouring - all went well for the initial climb. The two of them managed to reach the top of the mountain in just over two hours.

"I got to the top successfully," he told us. "It was really cold but some ladies at the top were kind enough to give me their train tickets so I could get back down - rather than have to endure more of the elements."

However, it was on the way down that things started to take a turn for the worse.

"On the train down I started to feel sick," he said. "I was shaking uncontrollably and my mood became very emotional."

It was at the point he began to turn pale that his dad decided to call for help. When the train finally got to the bottom emergency services were on hand to treat him for hypothermia.

Although it took him an entire 24 hours to recover from the climb and he regrets having wasted emergency service's time - he says that he's proud to have raised over £1,000 pounds for charity.

Reflecting on the whole thing he said: "When I got back and told my mates about what happened they where shocked but they believed in me and are now proud of me.

"At the end of the day, it was all worth it for a good cause."

Nathan now says he's considering taking on Ben Nevis next year, although next time he's going to plan ahead and give more of a consideration to conditions.
