Parents Ordered To Remove A DIY Wooden Headstone From Their Son’s Grave

This is devastating.

The parents of a baby boy who died just two hours after his birth have been told to remove a DIY wooden headstone which they added to his grave.

Lisa Bray, 26 and Chris Maddick, 31, couldn't afford a stone memorial for the grave of their son, James.

Uncle Kevin Penhale, 45, decided to make one with plywood and glued it to a concrete slab. According to The Sun, it took four days to make.

The family erected the memorial at Margam Cemetery near their home in Port Talbot, South Wales.

But just days before James' due date, cemetery staff have told the family that it should be removed because it could be a safety hazard.

"We are absolutely heartbroken," said mum-of three Lisa. "I would beg and beg the cemetery staff for them to keep my little boy's headstone there."

The local council said all gravestones must meet regulations on "longevity, safety and consistency with the environment."

Our thoughts go out to the entire family.
