Everyone has a favourite beer in Australia and whether it's a stock standard like Tooheys New or a crafty, artisanal one like a Lord Nelson, it's all good beer. No one can tell you it's shit if you enjoy it.

Well, we're hoping you like Victoria Bitter, aka VB, because this Sunday you'll be able to get a freebie from select pubs across the country.

On their website, the company says: "There's been a lot of talk over the last few months. While we don't know what's coming next, we do know this.

"It's the start of another week and it's time to get back to doing what we do best: working hard.

"That's the only way we are going to push this country forward. For everyone ready to get on with the job of making Australia a better place, it's our shout. Sunday May 26th, 2-4pm at participating venues."

While the window might not be huge but there are 143 different establishments that could can nab a free beer from. You could easily tee up a cheeky two-hour pub crawl in your state and you wouldn't spend a cent.

The whole 'Our Shout' campaign is to celebrate the end of the election, which many of us a surely happy is over.

VB marketing director Chris Maxwell said: "Australians have celebrated momentous moments with a VB for 165 years and now is the time to put aside our differences and all work together in the spirit of mateship.

"We're calling for our leaders in Canberra and the people of Australia to get on with the job. We want to reward Aussies who are ready to come together and work hard to make our country a better place, so we're shouting voters a beer in a pub.

"The pub is the great unifier. The place where white collar, blue collar, Labor or Liberal, young and old can come together, share a beer and build lasting friendships that go beyond our differences."

While you might stick your nose up at VB being offered for free and nothing else, it's arguably the best beer in Victoria; at least it was in 2015.

A Liquorland survey revealed it was the most popular alcoholic drink in Victoria - which isn't surprising considering the state's name is in the goddamn title.

But stop complaining, a free beer is a free beer so get stuck in.
