There’s An Amazing Harry Potter Airbnb That You Can Stay In Right Now

Roscommon is a long way from Hogwarts, but you can get a taste of it in Boyle by staying at this amazing Harry Potter-themed Airbnb.

If you were looking for somewhere to get away from the stinking ungodly awfulness of 2020, then we might well have the place for you.

There's an honest-to-god, real, no-kidding, Harry Potter Airbnb that you can stay in right nowm and it's right here in Ireland. Well, it might be booked up right now, but y'know. Because of course it is - it's been booked wall to wall all summer and pretty much all the time that we've not been in lockdown.

The Draiocht House - that's Irish for "Magic", if you've forgotten your Junior Cert - is in Boyle, Co. Roscommon and looks absolutely bloody fantastic. The listing reads: "Located in the heritage town of Boyle, Draiocht House is less than a 5 minute walk to shopping, restaurants, pubs and historical sites such as Boyle Abbey and King house."

I've never been to Boyle, but I'm going to hedge that the shopping isn't Diagon Alley and the pubs will bear little resemblance to the Leaky Cauldron, but hey, maybe Roscommon is actually the gateway to a new world of magic.

"Touching on the Harry Potter world every bedroom has a theme and all over the house you'll find creative genius' and lasting memories you'll only find in a unique property like this," it continues.

They're not kidding either. There's broomsticks on the walls, a signpost to various parts of the Wizarding World, a wand cabinet on the wall - oh, and a full trolley crashing into a wall a la Platform 9 and 3/4s at Kings Cross Station. Oh, and there's a bloody great treehouse in the back garden, which I have to say I don't immediately remember being in Harry Potter but seems on brand.

The bedrooms are themed to Hufflepuff, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Slytherin, with colour schemes and fixtures to match. Me, I'd take the Gryffindor one, if only because it has a huge four-poster bed that looks comfy as anything.

The photos on the listing also shows the staircases, which look like...staircases. I guess it's hard to capture them in mid-movement as they amble around the giant castle/terraced house in Boyle.
