A 24-year-old woman in the US has opened up about having to wear dentures after a botched root canal procedure. See here:
Alex Sandroski, from Pennsylvania, was born with short roots and would often find herself losing teeth when she was growing up.

After struggling with infections and breakages throughout her teenage years, Alex made the decision to get a root canal treatment and crowns on the majority of her remaining teeth.
However, she said the procedure was botched, resulting in 'infection after infection'.
And at just 22-years-old, Alex finally went ahead with the decision to have all her teeth removed - after losing 12 leaving of them - leaving her relying on dentures for the rest of her life.

Alex, who now works at a dispatcher for a dental company, said: "When I was 18, I found a dentist and we came up with a treatment plan - he ended up doing a root canal on most of my remaining teeth with a crown on top.
"I had problems from day one of doing that - he didn't do the work properly and it was done too quickly so everything started to fail and before I knew it, I was having infection after infection.
"I kept needing more and more teeth pulled out that I eventually made the decision to just have them all removed.
"My teeth were so infected that there was nothing I could do and financially, I couldn't afford dental implants so I made the difficult decision and felt extremely sad about it."
Alex has struggled with tooth ache since she was a child and blames the condition on genetics. However, she believes the root canal treatment was the breaking point which ultimately led to her getting dentures.

She added: "When the dentist first told me that was an option, I was shocked and sat on the decision for a year before going ahead with it.
"They couldn't do anything else for my teeth so I had to make that difficult decision. Dental implants would have set me back $35,000 (£25,157) for just the top and I couldn't afford it.
"Right now, I'm at a point where I'm happy, pain free and pleased with my decision to get dentures.

"The dentures look very realistic and no one knows I have them until I tell them - I love seeing people's reactions for the first time!
"In the beginning, I felt grief and major loss and I didn't recognise myself for a while. I refused to go out anywhere. I've definitely accepted it now."
